Job description

JOB OBJECTIVE(S)

To implement projects proposals in accordance with the Client approved project management procedure, ensuring HSE, quality, schedule and budget standards are met in a controlled, transparent and auditable way.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage strategic and front–end processes of allocated projects in accordance with the Client approved project management procedure from the develop stage to the close out stage.
  • Ensure adherence to the project quality management system throughout the project lifecycle by applying approved procedures and relevant Design Engineering Practices, standards and specifications.
  • Administer the proper authorizations for the various stages of the allocated projects.
  • For allocated projects manage the process of developing, preparing and compiling comprehensive and fully defined scope of works.
  • For allocated projects control expenditures within budget by applying necessary project controls processes.
  • Responsible for the realization of execution contracts for the allocated projects, including determining and preparation of contracting strategies, select and prequalify appropriate tenderers, and contract execution (implementation) plans. Manage Contract execution by managing contractor performance, variations, resolve contractual disputes, and carry out contract reviews and audits.
  • Develop and manage key activity plans for all phases of all projects including contracting using the project database and manage monthly reporting on progress and cost.
  • Carry out preliminary project risk assessment to identify and assess risks and uncertainties associated with important projects and develop risk management plan and mitigation strategies for areas under consideration.
  • For individual projects, manage the interface activities between the various support teams (i.e. project services; cost-estimating, construction, and design).
  • Produce timely project progress reports for all assigned projects, i.e. scope, budget, schedules, key constraints, etc.
  • Develop and provide client with commissioning and start up plans, spare part recommendations, training requirements, start up assistance for specialised equipment, etc. and manage project hand over to the client.
  • Effectively close out projects by verifying all commitments, advice finance on budget closure and carry out project performance post implementation review and approval of as built drawings.

We need a project engineer with a strong instrumentation background to work in the projects organization, immediate projects the E&I project engineer might be assigned to drive are

  • Control Room Upgrade Project
    Scope: Modify Operations Control Centre (OCC) following HFE review, upgrade existing electrical system, and upgrade existing HVAC system
  • Upgrade CCR DCS Graphics and Equipment
    Scope: Upgrade of the current carrier band local area network (CBL) to the mesh network, replacement of obsolete DCS hardware and associated software

Applicant criteria

Education

B.Sc. degree in E&I Engineering or related discipline.

Experience

  • 7 years post graduation experience, out of which 3 years should be in project engineering / design construction activities in an oil and gas industry.
  • Knowledge of:
    • Shell Project process (Guides, Standards etc.) or similar process
    • Shell DEP’s or similar
    • Construction standards
