Senior Engineer (Turbine Controls)

Primary Purpose Of The Job:

To provide specialist advice and assistance in respect to the maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of process control and turbine control systems and instrumentation ranging from conventional electronic and pneumatic instrumentation to computer/microprocessor based control systems.

Accountabilities

• Maintains and investigates component and system faults of plant and macfinery to make recommendations to prevent reoccurrence
• Prepares detailed reports on all major instrument and control problems of turbines and associated machinery.
• Reviews spare parts holdings to ensure an adequate supply of spare parts and ensures they are efficiently utilized.
• As directed by Head of Control Systems, develops and implements preventive maintenance routines and procedures and by monitoring and establishing frequencies to maximize reliability at minimum cost.
• Participates in the planning and preparation of major plant and turbine overhauls.
• Maintains detailed technical records of each instrumentlsystem including storage and control of process computer software control configurations.
• Provides technical Munctional support to Projects during construction and commissioning of new rotating equipment. Includes frequent communications with contractor to control the implementation of Projects as assigned. Confirm work progress and recommends approval of completion certificates by Supervisor.
• Provides technical Ifunctional support to instrument maintenance technicians on complex machinery control system faults.
• Responsible for the on the job training of instrument technicians to maintain/improve their efficiency.

Education:

• B. Sc in Electronic Engineering minimum.
• Must have satisfied the academic requirements for chartered engineer status or equivalent.

Experience & Skills:

12 - 15 years experience in the maintenance and repair of electronic, computer and microprocessor analogue and digital instruments of process and turbine controls systems preferably in chemical, or oil and gas related industries.
Good knowledge of English both written and spoken.
